When singing death metal growls is it good for your voice to sound different afterwords?
I was singing death metal growls outside for as long and as loud as I can for about 15 seconds. When I was done I started talking regularly to my friends and my voice sounded different for about 20-30 minutes. Am I singing death metal wrong or was I not supposed to do growls really loudly?
No, it indicates damage to your vocal chords. Try hot tea with honey, lemon, and brandy. It will help them heal faster.
Why does metal react when inside the microwave and not the metal microwave?
Microwaves are made from metal. When metal objects are cooked in it, it explodes.
Why does the microwave not react the same?
First of all, microwave ovens are specially designed to contain the waves of radiation inside themselves. The reason why metal objects inside an oven cause spraks and even explosions is that they act like antennas and absorb the microwaves, and the electric current generated in them produces an electric arc (connected discharge), which makes the sparks. However, the surrounding walls don’t act like an antenna because they don’t have the appropriate shape and they surround the microwaves without being immersed in them. Besides, whatever current it can cause is easily discharged by them into earth.
Im getting a metal halide light for my acquarium but i dont know what kind of bulb to choose. help me?
im planning to have fish and corals but i dont know which bulb should i get for my 150w metal halide light. they have 20k 14k and 6.7 does any body know the difference? which one should i choose.
The difference between these is the color they’ll make the water appear – they produce different wavelenghts of light, which is expressed by different colors. But rather than choosing what looks good to you, you need to choose based on the needs of the corals you’re keeping.
The biggest difference is whether you’re using the metal halide on its own, or in combination with other lighting (particularly actinics, which produce a very deep blue color, like you’re looking underwater at night). If you are using actinics, I’d get the 14K, which is the closest to natural midday lighting in the tropics under about 30 feet of water. If you aren’t using the actinics, I’d get the 20K, as this would simulate the effect of 14K plus actinics.
If you do have the actinics, your coral will benefit by having all your lights on a timer, so you can simulate dawn (1-2 hours of actinic only), midday (actinic + halides), and dusk (1-2 hours of actinic only). It’s a more gradual increase and decrease of light so your fish aren’t spooked, and if you add a few hours of moonlight, you might get natural coral reproduction (release of gametes rather than just dividing).
Can you paint metal using rust paint in colder weather?
The place I work at has large metal bins that they want to cover in rust paint before the winter. They plan on doing it in the middle of November, but I was wondering if the paint will apply/dry properly.
should be around 50 degrees. It may not set up well or dry very good. but someone will take the fall for it if it’s still wet 2 weeks later, long as it’s not you. CYA.
Is it safe to freeze a metal water bottle?
I have a metal water bottle at home which I bought about 3 yrs ago, but never used. We are out of plastic water bottles to freeze and I this metal one I have would probably be more conveinient then your average water bottle. Is it safe to freeze?
Thanks in advanced.
Just keep the lid off during the freezing process to allow for expansion of the water freezing.=)
How do I remove rust from metal in my bathroom?
What kind of fluids can I use to remove rust from metal objects in my bathroom? And what kind of scrubbing pad should I use without scratching the metal objects?
Thanks!
Wayne
I also have heard good stuff about bar keepers friend. You can also try products like CLR. I mention this because i have not seen bar keepers friend in my store.
Additonally i think the type of scrubbing pad you use will depend on the surface you are cleaning. I would worry that any brillo or metal pad would leave scratches. A good rust remover should not need too much scrubbing aid.
How to connect metal coupling to plastic pipe?
I have a leak on the inlet to my toilet cistern. I have bought a replacement metal coupling which I connected ok to the mains plastic pipe, but when I connect to the plastic threaded pipe attached to the inlet valve it leaks. What should I usse to prevent the leakage?
PTFE Tape. Like this:
http://www.plumbworld.co.uk/ptfe-tape-171-0000
http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=9265394&fh_location=%2f%2fcatalog01%2fen_GB&fh_search=ptfe&fh_eds=%c3%9f&fh_refview=search&ts=1199488473747&isSearch=true
Wrap it around the thread and then screw it in. Try to get it going the right way (with the thread) so that when you screw it on the tape does not unwind.
What are the advantages of using metal studs in a home?
I am considering having a home built and I am leaning towards using metal studs as opposed to the traditional wood ones.
Anybody with any experiance in this area? Comments, suggestions!?!?!
Any problems with wiring or radio/tv reception? Lightning? Static problems? I was told early metal studs caused grime & dust to be attracted to the walls…
The termite issue is one of my main concerns being that I live in the South. I also am considering metal studs because of the lessened fire risks & cheaper insurance rates.
Fire and Ice – that is an interesting point that I would have never though of. Thanks for letting me know!
On top of the reduced risk of termite infestation, there’s the fire resistance factor, no warpage, twisting, moving because of moisture absorption, and the fact that they are all straight when they are installed. Metal is being more widely used every day in the building trades and is proving itself worthy. Besides, it saves some of our trees.
What do most metal surfaces have in common with ceramic materials?
Studying bio materials and I need to know the answer to the above answer. Somehow I don’t think the answer is ceramics have metal components, but if that’s the answer then I guess I read to deep into the question.
Most metal surfaces are protected by an oxide film. Essentially these are layers a few atoms thick of ceramics on the surface of the metal.
Two good examples of this are Aluminum and Chromium in stainless steel alloys.
How to bend back metal on a truck after an accident?
Ok, a few minutes ago i asked how to bend back the plastic on the truck, now i realized that the reason my tire is grinding against the plastic part is because in the accident is because the metal in the lower front of the truck from its middle or line of symmetry is bent back towards the right. As you may know i cannot heat this type of metal or after it cools down it will become weak and brittle. Is their any way (besides a repair shop) to bend that metal back to it’s original position without damaging or weakening the metal, or destroying the plastic around the metal?
If it got smashed the structural integrity is already somewhat compromised so who cares if you heat it. If it is part of a main support (frame, suspension, steering parts) or what some call super structure I would say you are right if it is simply body support heat it. Other than that a chain and a big tree or a really big bar. Good luck.
